One Boat

                         A reflection

We must tread lightly not to disturb the waters.

Ever person has a ship.

Everyone believes they can paddle towards the other side.

It is easy to say we believe in someone,

But this is not enough when that person has lost belief in themselves and thinks everyone feels this way about them.

Sabotage is a habit,

when all we know of self worth is lack., substance takes over our spirit.

A moments pleasure takes over our lives.

Craving eventually kills. Clipping the wings of hope and spirit.

But belief can start in a moments spark.

Don't look at the years as lost.

Don't look on this day as the habitual, oh hum.

Put your hand on the oars if only for moment.

A Prayer

Dear Lord please give me enough light to see.

Enough calm to hope.

Enough strength to row away from this pain.

I only ask for one moment to be free from my self destruction.

One moment freedom from the shackles I have put on myself.

One moment of forgiveness.

One moment to recall what life was like before I lost my way.

I look back not to regret but to somehow find a familiar course that I may have forgotten.

A course to safety and love.

I know I have lost my power but for one moment may I find it again.

Steer me oh Lord.

I ask for one moment and I pray that the secession of moments will one day last for a day, to weeks, months and years.

Maybe, God willing, you can help me change the course of a lifetime.

My prayer for you

May this moment find you hopeful. May it heal you. May God protect and guide you from this moment on. Peace to you. You are not forgotten. You are loved. You belong.

A commitment

We believe in you. You believe in you too. This is your moment. It is not the habit, it is yours. You are more than the substance. You are more than a moments delusion. You are more. And this moment is where you start. The ocean may seem huge. The shoreline maybe out of view but it is there. Paddle until you see it. You will see it. Take one moment at a time and steer past the buoys. You are not lost. We are all in the same boat. We will get you there.

Road Trips: Kejimkujik National Park and Historic Site

We bought a van and we did so for one reason: camping. Our first test would be at Jeremy's Bay Campground. Kejimkujik National park had many sites to choose from usually but because people were spending their hard earned money in Canada (boycotting America) we only had a few spots available. The van had stow n go seats so it gave us enough room for a couple roll out mattresses. Setting up camp was pretty simple a dinning tent a couple of chairs and a fire.  Luckily for us we were there a week before the fire ban. Things were great until it was time to sleep. There was a crying kid a few sites away who was always in trouble for something. His crying continued into the wee hours of the morning. I finally locked the doors and fell asleep. Then it was tinkle time. As I opened the door the ani-theft alarm started to blare and I couldn't turn the darn thing off. After a few minutes of frustration and yes, cussing, I got it to stop not before waking up the entire camp.   I try t...

A pane in the glass

One pane of glass. One red, white and blue basketball. And one frustrating day in the window repair business.    My father was very good at repairing windows. He had plenty of practice. Our backyard was our arena, our stadium and the scene of many sporting errors.  Who done it? It all started on our one-lane road.  Every homeowner could hear the crack of the bat and then the smash of a ball. Where it came from, no one knew. We split, leaving the bat suspended just above the dust cloud. Not a kid in sight. Who done it was an unsolved mystery. All they could see was the weapon, the bat, the ball and the glass now littering the living room floor. Opps Things were different in our backyard. A wayward slapshot way upstairs. Crash. A change-up and a foul tip. Smash. Today's error: a basketball. A hook shot, nothing but air and glass. Bang. Shortly after the initial impact we heard something else, my father cuss "Friggin Kids" It was the only f word my dad was all...

Humming

We have a rose of Sharon bush in front of our  living room window. Every year it attracts humingbirds. Now the blooms are bursting with color. I patiently waited for this little guy to return.  Expectation and joy brings colors to life. The fluttering of wings, the souls delight.  To savor the nectar of a the new day. That is just the hummingbirds way. My pics. Hummingbird at home.
